Summary
of what the coursework involves:
The production of
a thorough and concise design folder (20-30 A3 sheets) to include Design Brief,
Research, Analysis, Design Specification, Ideas, Development & Model making
and Final Design. The
production of a high quality 3D final Product.
Which
months the coursework is tackled:
July
2007-Early March 2008 (several sections can be completed during the summer
holidays)
When
coursework is due to be handed in:
March
2008 (final dates will be published early in the Autumn term).
Some
tips for producing good coursework:
Ø Be organised and meet all
deadlines, follow teacher advice.
Ø Do
not spend too long on research. Only
include relevant information and evaluate it.
Ø Do
not spend time ‘prettying up your folder’.
Ø Hand in your design folder when asked to do
so to allow your teacher to mark it and pass it back so YOU can make additions.
Ø Start your practical work before December.
How
parents can support their son/daughter with coursework:
Ø Help
them to gather research.
Ø Check
the progress of their designing.
Ø Guide
them to meet deadlines.
What
help the department provides:
Ø Practical workshops at
lunchtime and after school.
Ø Help sheets and individual tutorials as
needed.
How
students should go about asking for further assistance if they feel help is
needed:
Make an
appointment outside lesson time with their teacher to discuss coursework.
