One piece.  ‘How and why does environmental quality vary across Stockton town centre?’

 

Summary of what the coursework involves:

 

The coursework is based on data that is collected whilst on fieldwork in Stockton .  This includes data about environmental quality, land use and two additional pieces of data such as litter and building design.

 

Which months the coursework is tackled:

 

Coursework is written up in May/June/July.

 

When coursework is due to be handed in:

 

September 2007.

 

Some tips for producing good coursework:

 

Ø   Keep up-to-date with work.  Your teacher will structure deadlines to make your coursework manageable.

Ø   Follow the advice booklet.

Ø   Make sure you always describe and explain.  Use words such as because and therefore. Ø      Include geographical terms.

Ø   Use ICT to word process your coursework.  This makes it much easier to improve.    

 

How parents can support their son/daughter with coursework:

 

Ø   Read it.  If it makes sense and is well explained, then it is likely to gain a good mark.

Ø   Make sure that your son/daughter is working on it.  All geography homework to the end of term will be coursework based.

 

What help the department provides:

 

Ø   Support in lessons.

Ø   Access to ICT in some lessons.

Ø   A detailed advice booklet.

Ø   Lunchtime sessions in the ICT room.

Ø   Staff are available at lunchtimes.

 

How students should go about asking for further assistance if they feel help is needed:

 

Talk to your Geography teacher.
