Admission Arrangements

The admissions policy covers the normal year of entry where students are starting secondary school for the first time and students who are applying for admission during the school year or for year groups outside the normal year of entry.

North Yorkshire Council manages all Stokesley School admissions. You can apply for an in-year admission via their website: https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/changing-schools-and-year-applications

You can apply for admission in the normal year of entry between 12th September and 31st October:

https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/apply-place-primary-or-secondary-school

You can contact NYC admissions by telephoning 01609 780 780.

In-year admissions are those that are made either during the school year, or for admission into year groups other than the normal year of entry. If there are more applications for a place than places available, then the oversubscription criteria detailed within the policy will be applied to ascertain which child is most entitled to a place. In-year applications will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and whether or not a place can be offered will be determined by the availability of places and any resource issues within that year group.

If you have any queries about admissions and would like to apply for an in-year place, please contact stokesley@arete.uk.

The Published Admission Number for the 2023/24 intake is 189 students.

Admission appeals for normal year of entry or in-year admissions are managed by the Local Authority on the academy’s behalf, please refer to their website at: https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/appeal-school-place
