All Year 8 students at Stokesley School took part in a series of exciting workshop’ during a Careers Enrichment Event which lasted all morning. Local businesses Labman, Analox, Neue Schule, Armstrong Richardson and Teesside University delivered a range of interactive sessions with a focus on various employment sectors, designed to inspire and motivate students. Every student in Year 8 had the opportunity to participate in three sessions during the morning and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Careers Leader at Stokesley School, Janine Harrison-Henry, said: “I am delighted that today has been such a huge success, the businesses and Teesside Uni Student Ambassadors have been fantastic in designing and delivering their workshops which have engaged approximately 200 students simultaneously.”
Teesside University Student Ambassadors commented ;
“All of the pupils were really engaged and well behaved in our session. They all had a go at finding out about the courses and at presenting. Some students also decided they now want to become midwives or forensic scientists after the session and reading through the prospectus. Their knowledge of higher education was significantly increased with explanations of UCAS points, what a degree is, our term structure and a bit more. I think the structure and timing was good and it went really well. ”
“I thought the chocolate box challenge went really well yesterday. The students seemed to really enjoy it and were very engaged. I was impressed with how much effort and thought they put into designing their chocolate boxes. They considered everything from allergens to coupons and even identified gaps in the market! Their ideas were very original and there are clearly some promising artists in year 8. “
