Stokesley School A-Level Students Celebrate Achievements

10 August 2021  |  Darren Smith

It was a pleasure to see a high number of our sixth form students collecting their hard-earned grades in person today.

In yet another extraordinary year where all of our students have worked exceptionally hard in, often, trying circumstances, it has been wonderful to focus on their personal achievements and ensure they are well placed to move forward with their personal goals.

Many students were awarded strong grades including a number with a combination of As and A*s which is testament to their effort and determination. Their university destinations range from medicine to veterinary science, forensic psychology to archaeology, and engineering based programmes, as well as some who will now be entering the world of work or taking a gap year.

Y13 student Ellie Johnson who achieved 2 A* and an A said ‘I am over the moon to have achieved this during these difficult times, and am so excited for my next steps at Nottingham University. I couldn’t have done it without my amazing teachers!’

Mrs Millett, headteacher, said: ‘2021 has been another year of ups and downs with students, again, facing the challenges of remote learning and periods of isolation. Far from being the so-called ‘Covid generation’ though, they have proven themselves to be inspirational and resilient young adults. Within a two-year A-Level course, they have had two significant periods of lockdown and other disruption along the way; yet, with the support of their fabulous teachers, they have risen to all of the challenges that faced them and developed many skills that will equip them well for their exciting futures. Wherever their dreams take them next, we know our Stokesley College students will continue to make us proud.’

Richard Crane, CEO of the Areté Learning Trust said: ‘Despite all of the challenges that students and staff have faced during the last academic year, we are delighted to celebrate their achievements and success in terms of what they have achieved. I’d like to thank the students and teachers for all of their hard work, and parents/carers and families for all of the support they have provided for our students throughout their time at Stokesley School. We wish all of Y13 every success for the future’
