The Transition Process

We endeavour to make the transition from year 11 to year 12 as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Our approach is to provide a graduated transition so that in September, students new to sixth form feel comfortable from day one. For those students joining us from other schools, we ensure they feel part of the Stokesley family as quickly as possible. Our position as a small sixth form helps us achieve this with great success.

Following completion of their GCSEs, applicants are invited to spend two days with us, when they will have the opportunity to enjoy taster lessons in their prospective subjects.

After enrolment, the first two days of the autumn term will include a series of induction sessions to ensure that students have all the information required and begin to develop some of the skills they need so that they are ready to begin their new academic challenge.

We also provide a parents’ and carers’  information evening early in year 12 so that the whole family are aware of sixth form life and how it differs to main school.
